Dressing well for a christening

I have been invited to a christening next week, so I thought I would write a short post on what you should be looking to wear at a Christening

So, as a man, attending a christening which is a special occasion to celebrate the beginning of a new life and to show respect and support for the child and their family.

In order to be sartorially elegant, it is important to keep in mind the significance of the event and the appropriate dress code.

First and foremost, it is essential to choose a well-fitted suit or blazer and trousers. This is a classic and timeless look that shows sophistication and respect for the occasion.

Opt for neutral colours such as navy, charcoal, or grey, as they are appropriate for any season and can be easily accessorized.

A crisp white shirt is a must-have, as it exudes elegance and complements any suit colour. To add a touch of formality, a tie in a solid or subtle pattern can be worn.

On the other hand, if the christening is taking place in a more casual setting, a well-tailored dress shirt paired with chinos or dress trousers can also be a great option.

As for footwear, leather dress shoes in black or brown are the most appropriate choice. It is important to make sure they are polished and in good condition. Avoid wearing trainers, sandals, or any other casual shoes as they will not match the formality of the event.

In terms of accessories, minimalism is key. A simple watch, cufflinks, and a pocket square can add a touch of sophistication without being too overpowering.

Finally, it is important to remember that dressing appropriately also means being mindful of the venue and weather. If the christening is taking place in a church, it is respectful to cover up with a tailored blazer or a coat.

And if the event is outdoors, be sure to check the weather and dress accordingly. By following these tips, you will not only look dapper and sartorially elegant, but also show your appreciation for this special occasion.

Its January now, so Gloves and a hat are definitely on the cards.

Here is my wardrobe choice, maybe a little more than some but as it will be cold I plumped for a waistcoat too
